It is possible to install and run Ubuntu on an external drive? I have in mind
4GB memory stick or flash memory. I do not have USB boot option in BIOS.

Just though I should introduce myself to the Ubuntu developers mailing
list and let you rip my idea proposal apart!
I'm Dan Harvey a Natural Science student at Durham Uni (UK) doing
computer science and am very keen to help out improving the usability
of the Ubuntu desktop.
The idea I propose
Like Corey saiys, Students are the only ones who can participate in Google's
Summer of Code.
I haven't read anywhere about ages or grades restriction, but I think that
anybody who's a student in High School, College, or university can join :)
