I have just installed the ubuntu 12.10 in my upgraded (!) eee pc 1000HD
with 2GB RAM, but it seems to be VERY SLOW. I suspect the graphic card
drivers. Have you got anything in mind?

Demetri you could try disabling the "feature" that sends dash queries on
Amazon:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/192269/how-can-i-remove-amazon-search-results-from-the-dash
Also you may have better lack with 12.04 instead. If not, use a lighter
desktop like xubuntu or lubuntu.
