Public bug reported:
Installed Feisty on Inspiron 1520 using the Live CD. At this stage the
CD is working OK.
When the OS is installed the CD/DVD is no longer available. Attempting
to mount the device gives "mount: special device /dev/hda does not
exist"

I have also had an identical problem. Here are some details on how to
reproduce it.
Run System/Preferences/Keyboard
On the layouts tab set the keyboard model to "Generic 105-key (Intl) PC"
Add the layout "U.S English Dvorak"
Add the layout "Germany"
Remove all other layouts
Set the
Testing with 8.04 Beta and the problem still exists
