I just receipt many beeps when the ubuntu start, this appers only in
startup, I set up only 'splash' in menu.lst and I see some flashed,
verticals white and blue lines with background in black, when it
finished the Login screen appears, I use Ubuntu 8.10 up to date.
Any idea???

Yes I was read thats bug and put my comment... so? the bug is unresolved

I have the beeps not all times, maybe once, maybe I can see the orange
bar running up and the messages... but I'll be crazy with the sounds!!

Uhm... sorry, I use Jaunty uptodate
But I found the solution: I change the permissions to 777 for the
/home/{user}/.openoffice folder and the problem was fixed.
Any idea why?

Well for this bug I need to install Xubuntu and lightdm, run very fast
with no issues, BUT looks like Firefox is eating a lot of RAM in both
desktops, for my job I need FF to be opened all the time, so the time to
time I need to close it and relaunch it, if not FF freezing my desktop,

Just to said: Using the same Lenovo S410p laptop with Nvidia GeForce GT720M in
14.04 with v 331 I have the problem showed here, I just make a clean new
installation of 15.04, its come with driver v.340.76 installed from synaptic
and its works very fine no issues, Im still waiting for a kerne
@cuacrzz:: thats fine, your desktop file is pointing to the by defuault
eclipse installation, change the path to your local eclipse v.4 that
works for me.

This bug have ONE YEAR and its not fixed, its only Ubuntu bug, because I
compile wxpython from sources and html2 works fine.
Because of that now all the packages using it (pgadmin3 for example)
dont work and i need to compile ALL from sources.
Im using 15.10 now when you will going to fix it?

Tired with the problem I proceed with a new clean install in my laptop
Lenovo Ideapad S410p Nvidia GT 720M (format "/" and "/boot" keep my
"/home" the same) after the process I run the apt-get update and install

I can add a test file t.py with a simple import lines and the command
