interesting (well to me)
after reading about the other bug i realized i have a external USB drive
connected to the back of my pc. completely forgot (sorry i dont use it
much). i must have disconnected it when i was trying to figure out what
went wrong during the installation. the external drive is
ok i'll try it once i get back home (at work)

i already had linux mint 3.0 running in dual boot with windows xp pro
sp2. i wanted to replace linux mint with ubuntu 8.04 desktop.
installation
i downloaded the installed cd (ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso) of ubuntu
8.04 desktop
at boot time i chose

- the
my WD 40 gb is actually on IDE 0:0 but i doubt that really matters
