KDE's KSysGuard is displaying the same problem and I found out that it's
showing the sum of network traffic on all available interfaces
(including both the normal WLAN's wlo0 and VPN's ppp0), hence the
doubling. I suspect GNOME System Monitor is doing the same thing.

When I update new kernel from 2.6.27-4 to 2.6.27-7 my wifi card don't
respond. I'm using an BCM4306 rev 2 card with b43-fwcutter. But if I use
the old kernel, wifi card work well.

firmware of b43-fwcutter must to put in to /lib/firmware/b43legency
(http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#fw-bcm43xx).

- AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology TL-60 / 2 GHz
- NVIDIA GeForce 7150M Shared video memory (UMA)
And only Ubuntu 8.10 is affected. Hope there'll soon be an update that
