On 18.04, I'm having this same issue. I can pair to an Echo, but cannot
connect nor setup as an Audio Sink. I get errors like "dbusfailederror
input/output error" in blueman.

I have the same problem on 4.4.0-97 and 4.4.0-96 with a Nvidia GTX 1070.
I've tried nvidia drivers 374, 384, 387, but none allow me to boot
4.4.0-97.
The only solution is to uninstall nvidia-* and then I can boot 4.4.0-97.
