Nothing appears for me too in the hardware drivers list. I have ATI
mobility radeon X1400. This really sucks since the free dri r300 driver
has problems with certain applications, such as the new flightgear
1.9.1.

I experience freezes very rarely lately. It looks as if the freezes are
due to two separate issues: Sometimes the freeze is associated with a
critical increase in cpu temperature (I have a cpu temperature applet
running which I always check when the system freezes). However, I don't
understand why
After clean installing the release candidate the problem almost
disappeared. It happened only once since the release candidate was
released (but I keep the system up to date). This is not very
satisfactory, however, since I have to constantly backup all my work.
Any suggestions?

Frequent total
I recently started using the "Power Management gui" wattospm:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6362540&postcount=103
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=988309
It solved all my problems.
It comes with a deamon which loads on startup. So, the values for hdparm
etc it loads are not lost a
ligphoto2-2 gives the same problem here. Below is the result of the
command Martin Pitt asked for:
+ set -e
+ [ configure = configure ]
+ ldconfig
+ PACKAGE=libgphoto2
+ mkdir -p /usr/share/hal/fdi/preprobe/10osvendor/
+ /usr/lib/libgphoto2/print-camera-list hal-fdi
+ rm -f /usr/share/hal/fdi/inf
I managed to fix the problem. I located and deleted all files of my
previous libgphoto and gphoto installation, which for some reason were
not deleted after uninstall. After that new install works without a
problem.

Public bug reported:
I experience frequent random total system freezes (no key combination
works, even ctrl+alt+SysRq+REISUB) after upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04. I'm
using IBM thinkpad t60 and have not had any problems with it before
since Ubuntu 6.04. Only the mute/unmute and volume keys work after
It installs now, but when I run mayavi2 I get the following:

Sorry. I reported the bug as Bug #211030, and will reply to Gaël
