bug still exists. bad as get notified to run asoundconf on upgrade.
hggdh's fix seems to fix it. unsure why it hasn't been fixed.

it works a little better. However, still problematic.
when it finds the sata drive (on ide emulation), it complains bitterly,
dumps a stack trace and says to use irqpoll
but doesn't die like old (or at least as I remember old, haven't tested
in a while as had motherboard on AHCI which is not pro

For instance, I use it as a way to "loop back" usb device into a vmware
VM (for instance, store the VM on a partitioned USB disk, but want a
seperate partition be viewable as a USB device within the vmware vm

When one upgrades from dapper to hardy it seems one is stuck with a
version of grub that is "too old" and can't boot the hardy kernel
I get an error of
"no setup signatures found"
when I try to boot.
It's conceivable that it's my fault (grub that
kernel's about 2.6.23 should perhaps check to see the version of grub.
I'm not 100% sure how to do that, but I know the version is in it.
on my updates machine, I can grep grub in bootloader for 0.97, I assume
it shouldn't be hard to verify that one has an appropriate version of
grub when one goes
This is due to "halt", no longer powering off the machine as well, now
one has to tell it to poweroff explicitly.
I personally don't get the use case where one would want to "halt" the
machine without powering it off, as well as the fact that it changes
years of behavior.
