So after digging a little i found out that my mime type database is ok..
gnomevfs-info .pdf
offers the correct information and says that the default app is set to
"evince.desktop" that seems ok.

Hi,
my file associations for attachments inside of evolutions are broken. If
i right click a file attachment i only get "open in texteditor" and
"save as" (or named likely as it's a german client).
If i store the file to my desktop and click i

i fight my pdf attachment in evolution for some months now, after
upgrading my evolution by upgrading my ubuntu i lost the option to
directly open pdf attachments in evolution.
