Hello all,
:
I ran into this same issue on my hp dv5. Here's what I did to get that button
working properly:
(better safe than sorry):
sudo cp /usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kubuntu.xmodmap
/usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kubuntu.xmodmap.bak
edit /usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/ku

type this in a terminal:
dmesg > dmesg.txt
That will redirect the output of dmesg to the "dmesg.txt" file. You can
then attach that file.

Hey tshann,
I believe they are looking for the output from
lspci -vvnn
so if you could do:
lspci -vvnn > lspci.txt
it would probably help a little more.
Then do:
dmesg > dmesg.txt
and attach that as well.
Thanks very much for the help!

Confirmed that this bios update resolves the problem on my HP DV5-1002nr
- bios version F.33. Also, thermal sensors are now functioning finally.
Thanks everyone for sending those emails! Hopefully this will be
resolved for others as well soon...

Also,
Hey jeiworth - I kept a small vista partition and so flashed the bios
from there. I'm not so sure I'd attempt to run their installer in wine.
Did you delete the recovery partition as well? I'm guessing yes...
Perhaps you could get recovery disks and attempt to flash the bios from
there.

Hi Paul,
I don't want to make any promises for sure as this week is a very busy
work week and this laptop is currently my main work machine, but it's
good to know that that may be related to the issue. I may have time and
resources next week to give swapping out the HDD a go (assuming an

Is there any chance of packaging a kernel for 8.10 with PREEMPT=y and

Holy crap, this boot option works like a charm on my dv5-1002nr with the
F.22 bios! I thought suspend was never going to work on this thing. You
are officially my superhero of the season. I hadn't seen this boot

I can confirm that the F.22 BIOS on my dv5-1002nr does not resolve this.

Hi cherie,
hope you got some sleep. I just did a bit of work and spaced out a bit
as well. Feeling super shitty today physically. I'm going to crawl in
the bed in a minute as I've got to try to get up early.
I am very excited to play in Rome. Sorry I'm very worn out and feeling
like crap today
Ah hell, that was really the wrong email address!!!

Ahem, any chance of deleting that little goof up there?
I swear I've never missent an email before in my life. At least you guys
got the G rated version and while I do think Paul is a great guy, that
wasn't intended for him or for general consumption ;)
Thanks, and sorry (hope someone got a laugh
@Alessio,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that actually. 2.6.28-3-rt won't
even boot for some reason on my Intrepid install (amd64) I'm just
running a custom build of 2.6.28-4 with CONFIG_HZ=1000 for audio stuff
at the moment as that is running just fine for audio work for me.

Just chiming in to say that I just dist-upgraded to karmic 64 bit and
have this issue as well. As a web developer, this is seriously
inconvenient. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.
Thanks

Is anyone else here seeing way way higher cpu usage by firefox all of

firefox is really slamming my computer pretty frequently and it was not
