Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 8.10 32-bit version, clean install:
some of the multimedia keys (above the normal keys) and parts of the
remote control on my HP laptop have stopped working in Ubuntu 8.10
whereas they used to work tip top in Ubuntu 7.04, 7.10 and 8.04.
Namely the "QuickPlay" button
Can someone please add a proper "How To", e.g. what to do after the
packages are installed? :-) That would be useful, thanks :-)
simias-server-setup seems to work OK ... but then what? As I said
above: a "how to" would be nice :-)
Thanks + Regards

Can you please post a link to that "other howto" that you mention? The
one that explains how one might use "alien" to convert the SUSE rpm's to
Ubuntu deb's?
Thanks.

Hmmm where did you get this file from?? log4net_1.2.9-105_all.deb

In the guide it says ...
"5.) You must install a special version of log4net:
sudo apt-get remove liblog4net1.2-cil
sudo dpkg -i log4net_1.2.9-105_all.deb

I tried Googling but I can't find that package.

I was really slooow yesterday (not enough sleep??). There is a link

"log4net_1.2.9-105_all.deb" package file.

Yes, same here. I haven't tried Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04 yet but I'd expect the
behaviour to be the same.

Public bug reported:
It appears that on Ubuntu 8.04 the binary /sbin/mount.nfs no longer
understands certain (standard?) mount options which work on Ubuntu 7.10.
This is bad for compatibility!
Instructions to reproduce the behaviour:
1.) both on Ubuntu 8.04 and 7.10:

Hi all,
I'd like to add this to the list of alternatives:

It works pretty good on Linux and it allows you to share specific files
via a web interface with non-SpiderOak users. This is a very important
feature for me because it allows me to easily share files and

I fail to see how this could be a "duplicate" of bug #134071 it's
related at best, but not a duplicate. #134071 does absolutely nothing
for me whereas here you at least get to read about a working workaro
That's precisely why it is better to work with the symbolic links as
they did in Ubuntu 9.04 and before:

=> that way it won't matter if the "gdm.conf" file gets overwritten by a
new update or not.

Please read the early comments. Oracle SGD demands these options. They
work with Ubuntu before 8.04, they work in Oracle Linux, RHEL, Solaris
