I'm experiencing the same problems. For me it happens more frequently (after 15
minutes max.) and not only in the text balloons.
Also the desktop background and applications get garbeled.
Could be a bug in the intel X driver, I also have an integrated Intel Graphics
driver.

I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. FCoE is non-functional on
ubuntu-server due to a version of fcoe-utils from 2009, and a broken
init script. The fcoe service does not autovlan, and when you try to
manually create the interface, the following error occurs:
$ sudo fcoeadm -c p3p1
I linked the upstream bugreport (I was under the impression this was
already the case, hence I was not mentioning my fix here). Thank you
Teresa e Junior for alleviating that.
Upstream has created a patch:

I'm assuming that I'm suffering from the same symptom. Packages from
comment #73 fixed it after I manually resetted NetworkManager with
nmcli.
I think that the comment #16 is mentioning the root cause of all this.

That is probably a static bin with old library's. You will eventually
run into problems as well due to incompatibilities. Furthermore, those
versions of x11vnc could have been compiled with known vulnerability's
in it's statically linked library's.
Hi, I just tested the patched libnm-openvpn-propterties.so and I can
confirm that for me, it now works (while it did _not_ work with the
unpatched .so).
