@Gunnar Hjalmarsson:
in bionic I had to install libusb-0.1-4 to be able to scan with my MFC-440CN
(brscan2), because it ships libusb-1.0-0 by default.

I confirm that the packages in the proposed PPA allow to scan with a Brother
MFC-440CN (brscan2).
I tried booting directly from a bionic USB stick and followed the steps listed
on comment #232 (except adding a libsane rule, which is not needed in my case)
and additionally installed libusb-0.1-4.
The bug was fixed in linuxmint:

I see the same problem with Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04, inside an Active Directory
domain.
With slow machines (e.g. with rotational hard disks) it is always present; with
fast machines (with SSDs) it is randomly present, maybe because it depends also
on the time needed to contact the domain controll
Public bug reported:
The command "machinectl shell" does not work in systemd 249.9-0ubuntu2:
$ sudo machinectl shell ns-xxx
Connected to machine ns-xxx. Press ^] three times within 1s to exit session.
Connection to machine ns-xxx terminated.
The issue seems to be described here:

Sorry, the patch in:
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/e8cf09b2a2ad0d48e5493050d54251d5f512d9b6
is already applied in systemd 249.9-0ubuntu2, so that is not the
solution.

From the last comments in:

the problem is due to an incompatibility of the new versions of systemd with
older ones.
In fact the container was running ubuntu focal, with systemd_245.4-4ubuntu3.15,
and the host was running ubuntu focal with systemd
Sorry, the host was running Ubuntu jammy with systemd 249.9-0ubuntu2.

Hi Matthew,
I report the complete configuration of the machine in which I see the problem.
The machine is an Optiplex 745, with an Intel Core2 6320 CPU, 4 GB RAM and a
rotational HD, which I use as a test box for Ubuntu 22.04.
It was joined to an AD domain with the "net ads join -U aduser" comman

I tried this to check if the problem is really the slow writing of the
kerberos ticket to the disk:
disable the workaround in /etc/systemd/user/gvfs-daemon.service
reboot the slow machine
connect to the slow machine with ssh as "aduser" (a kerberos ticket is acquired
and written to /tmp/krb5cc_11
