This was a long time ago, I think the transition from Gutsy -> Hardy via the update manager seems to have screwed something up. If I recall correctly, a fresh install of Gutsy did not have this problem. I'm on 8.10 now anyway, so I'm afraid I can't give you any more information about this bug. -
