When I install Gutsy the computer keeps turning off by itself. I usually
reach about 94 to 96 % of the installation process and then it does turn
off.
I did not have any problem with Feisty so I did reinstall it and then I
upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy it did work but then
It is indicated that there is a duplicate of the bug. I also need to
verify if the problem is still there as I got use to plug the microphone
in each time I use it and then unplug it when I don't use it.

You can make an easy backup using tar.
It makes a backup of your files in a compressed archive and then you just have
to untar the archives to restore the backup. It does work I tried it.
