Agreed. The old behavior was better than none. Now I have sound muted
in the gnome-applet in the panel, but I can't tell whether or not the
'hardware mute' is active or not without the OSD. I have to sleep and
resume and wait for a beep to know what state its in (or even easier
play a sound).

Public bug reported:
When I download the Ubuntu source for fltk1.1.9 and compile it myself,
my program works just fine. Also version 1.1.5 (dapper) works fine with
my code. But, the pre-built libfltk.so that is installed by default
segfaults.
Simple test case:

his down, but I
found it strange that 1) this was really easy to fix by compiling my own
version and 2) that no one else has reported such a bug previously.

Long term testing of this kernel confirms the fact that this patch to
the 8250 serial driver does indeed fix the deadlock problem. This test
kernel has worked great so far, with no problems. Pleaswe condiser

I fixed this easily enough by copying the file, but since I administer

I have done some initial testing of this kernel . Multiple serial

It may be a week or so before I get back to you.
Thanks.

My Thinkpad X40 uses the madwifi driver. In dapper, everything worked
