Installing from cd Ubuntu 9.04 computer turns off at some random time
during the installation process.
When upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 (the upgrade was fine) using ethernet

After upgrading from ubuntu 19.10 to 20.04 the problem remains. In sound
settings I can see bar going up and down due to the voice in a video, but still
cannot hear anything. Got sound with bluetooth headset in 19.10. That still
works in 20.04 but seems to drop off more often (probably blu
It is working now. I did sudo dpkg --configure -a
which probably did help.
So my upgrade to 18.04 is fine now.

I have Acer Aspire 3830TG and ubuntu 11.04 (with standard settings
16.07.2011)
Downloading
http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb
and installing it (sudo dpkg -i alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb)
and rebooting gave me sound
