You left part of the Kernel image name off the end.
"sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic" is what you should
use or you could replace generic with server as well. Not sure what
difference it makes though.
Also I think I am giving up on the Silicon Image card with Linux. I
Update this if you find any solutions. I have given up for now as I lost
2 250 gig drives of data as it got corrupted. Luckily the data wasn't
all that important but I will still have to spend many hours to redo it.

the Kernel you mentioned from the Hardy repository. linux-
