I can confirm this on xubuntu and ubuntu 8.04. Or rather, if I configure
a wireless network manually with encryption, I can't use nm-applet to
choose wireless network. This however works if i configure an open
network and set the wireless card in roaming mode. The wireless network
is up and running
I too couldn't get the 0.1.4. version to run on my system but there's a
new(er) ultrastar-ng version, 0.2.1, that compiles fine on my gutsy
amd64 system. Tried to make a .deb but failed (first time trying). Maybe
someone with more experience in building debian packages could do it?

I'm on a lenovo v100 with integrated usb cam (s5k83a sensor), experiencing the
same problem, but with:
echo disabled > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/wakeup
suspend now works.
