I have followed the steps stated by RG and can confirm that this is the
behaviour in 10.04.
A preference to resolve this would be great to see in the next release.
I find this a daily annoyance.

marks the package xarchon-theme-default (same version #) as a required
dependency.

Well as you set before a lot has change, I don't use ubuntu 8.10 anymore now I
use 10.10 and and so far everiting is perfect, at least for me.
