I have just committed to KDE code to launch konqueror on unsupported protocol.
The notice in the statusbar now is "protocol not supported by Dolphin,
Konqueror has been launched".
The upstream bug has been closed with that commit

I have tried the intel driver 2.6.3 that comes with Ubuntu 9.04 and the 2.7.1
that comes from the X-updated PPA

I was in fact not using the demos but a program that uses Ogre3D
I made even a very basic program that does almost nothing and it crashed also
with the same error. So I assume the same will happen with the more complex
demos.
I am using Ogre 1.6 compiled manually (as it is not included in Jaunty

I will try those environmental variables but now I can not access that

kioslaves) as you won't expect writing help:/ in amarok to launch konqueror
(Amarok also manage some kioslaves).

It seems that there does exist a knetworkmanager that is in sync with the new
API and that seems to solve this bug. But as of this writing, the Intrepid
package has not being updated to that release.
This bug should be open till then (BTW, confirmed here, sigh)

Oh, I was wrong, the package is already using the new upstream code.
According to the changelog of the the last update (October 26th) or
network-manager-kde the new GUI is in fact using the new NM API, still
it seems that some users have the problem.
