I tried acpi=force irqpoll on my feisty 7.04(2.6.20-16-generic) and the
trackpoint still freezes up randomly.

I've got a normal mouse plugged in as well as an IBM USB keyboard with
ultranav(trackpoint and touchpad).
the regular mouse always works.
the touchpad always works.
the trackpoint (the one I care about the most) will stop working
I have:
live cd of gutsy gibbon, using 2.6.22-9-generic
one normal USB mouse (plugged into computer directly), working normally
one IBM USB ultranav keyboard with touchpad and touchstick, the touchpad is
working, the touchstick is not

it seems that if I do use my trackpoint all the time, it will keep
working. if I stop using it for little more than a few minutes it falls
into a grey area where if I try to move it, initially it won't move the
cursor, but give it another second or two and it becomes "unstuck".
