I've tested ubuntu 9.10 alpha 2 on my Thinkpad r50e and I couldn't reproduce
this bug. Can someone confirm this?

In some apps, like firefox and openoffice (but not Evince, for exmaple),
I have problem with trackpoint.
You can scroll a document, page, site with it if you press middle button and
push it in any direction.
But sometime the scrolling doesn't stop when you release the button
I had same problem with thinkpad r50e but it looks solved with 8.10
But the dmesg's message :
thinkpad_acpi: CMOS NVRAM (7) and EC (6) do not agree on display
brightness level
still remains.

I'm updating my previous post.
With all updates (kernel 2.6.24-18-generic) I have even more problems. The
screen brightness is set low in this situations:
- sometimes at boot of the computer
- sometimes at login screen
- sometimes after login
- sometimes (almost always) when I restart X

Some macbook user have similar problem with Firefox when they are using
their mighty mouse and/or touchpad. They don't have problems with
Safari. This is probably because Safari is optimised for mighty mouse
and touchpad with "unlimite

I've tested 8.10 alpha 5 live CD and the bug REMAINS. I've booted 3
times always with maximum brightness but after logging out the screen
was darker. Also, when the monitor turns of after some idle time and you
"wake" it, the brightness is lower.

I've tested karmic alpha 2 and there is a little change. When you try to
hibernate, the computer actually turns itself of, but when you restart
it, it just starts normally, as when you shut down it normally. There is
no change with suspending to ram.

I found a way how to make things much better!
There is an application called gpointing-device-settings that allows you to set
the inertia level for scrolling (the speed of mouse cursor stays intact). By
setting it bit higher the scrolling gets a bit slower but its much more
responsive. The progr
I can confirm this bug in Ubuntu 9.04 and Ubuntu 9.10 beta 1 on Thinkpad
r50e. The volume keys do not trigger any software response and no osd is
shown. Additionally, this is the case also for brightness buttons, but
