UPDATE: I now found out why FUSA only displayed as a 1px vertical bar:
the "desktop-switch" tool somehow set
desktop/gnome/lockdown/disable_user_switching to TRUE which caused FUSA
to this behavior. Since it is also used to set the current Pidgin state
and to Logoff, I guess this is not the desired

back to the netbook-remix, the FUSA icon was missing. Instead I found a

appeared: desktop-switch somehow set
desktop/gnome/lockdown/disable_user_switching to TRUE which caused FUSA
to hide itself. I did NOT have this option enabled before using desktop-
switch.

Downgrading dmraid to 1.0.0.rc14 helped - thanks.
But I still have the problem that initram drops me to its shell. "dmraid -ay"
works and after "exit" the system boots.
The hint from quequotion (edit /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dmraid) does
not seem to apply for me: There it already writes "
I have the same problem: trying to print a pdf in Ubuntu 8.10 gives the
error message "usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf failed".
Changing the permission to o+x of my home directory solves this problem.
But after changing it back to o-x the problem comes back.
Under Ubuntu 8.04 everything worked well

Since Zarafa already offers Ubuntu packages, it might be easy to
integrate it. Maybe a MOTU can ask for the deb-src files? I already
tested the installation on Intrepid, Hardy and Jaunty. It works on all
versions. No problems whatsoever.

mcedit is the best editor for mc users, so it should be default in mc...
like on all the other versions of Ubuntu before and like on all the
Redhat and Suse Linux I worked on... this is blasphemy ;)

I can confirm this bug. However I think the real bug here is that the
default keybindings of compiz overwrites a default keybinding in the
gnome desktop.
Workaround:
* open gconf-editor
* change the value of /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/switch_panels

I cannot install netbeans because I get the following error message:
