When update/installation is stuck, just open a second terminal and
stop snapd and snapd.socket.
# sudo systemctl stop snapd
# sudo systemctl stop snapd.socket
The installation in the first terminal should continue. After doing
this, the issue didn't surface so far.

that did not work. This resulted in the same issues I already stated in
#236 for the 1.0 version.
However, now I fixed it by upgrading my kernel. You can do a save update via:

Any update on this? I tried around a little and no matter what I do
(even purging and manually removing all visible mariadb/mysql stuff) I
get this after reinstalling mariadb-server. The mysqld_safe process
should not be running after a proper installation I guess.

On my system, installing mythtv would uninstall the MariaDB packages and
instead install the MySQL suite.
I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

After some more research I found a solution:
Add
kernel.shmmax = 536870912
to
/etc/sysctl.conf
and apply the setting with sysctl -p

I have that message with a HP EliteBook 850 G2 and docking station under
kernel 3.19.0-49-generic on Xubuntu 14.04. I think it causes an issue
with unrecognised external monitor. I have attached the syslog while
reproducing via following steps:

I have the same problem since I updated the system today. Nothing has
chenges besides the upgrade and the reboot afterwards. I can login using
the 'classic' interface, but Unity does not work.
My .xsession-errors file lokks very similar to the one above:

I just updated again, there was a unity update with libunity-core-6.0-9
Unfortunately it does not help. The update which introduced the problem
has 241 files updated, none of them with unity in the name, so this is
not evident to find.
Is there a unity log file I can check ?
