Does sudo need to know what host it's on in order to perform commands on
the local host?
(Keeping the root account enabled is not a solution because that is not
how Ubuntu currently works.)

These are two issues. One is that you can't unsubscribe by email. You
must use the web interface. I was not able to find any bug report about
this in malone https://launchpad.net/products/malone/+bugs
You are very welcome to report it, if you really think it is a desirable
feature
Public bug reported:
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go
switching to another virtual terminal (Ctrl+Alt (left) + F1) and back
(Ctrl+Alt (left) + F7) restores the image.
I managed to fix it completely by editing /etc/powersave/sleep and
adding:
SUSPEND2DISK_SWITCH_VT="yes"
SUSPEND2RAM_SWITCH_VT="y
This seems an error in the kernel driver rather in powersave daemon.

The module in kcontrol that disables the system bell should give the
option of disabling it system-wide.
On method to do this is to add:

to /etc/rc.local

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nvidia-glx
In order for this to work at all I had to do the following:
Neither: sudo nvidia-glx-config enable
Nor: sudo nvidia-xconfig
I edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change "nv" for "nvidia"
I follow http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/Latest_Nvidia_Edg
