Mamamel reporting again,
Following advice, disconnected every USB device...with exception of
keyboard & mouse
Installation now works; I made sure to run updates and fully update /
patch the OS
Then I started connecting USB devices one by one,
connect...rebootsee if OS would boo
Hope this info helps somebody later on...before giving up disconnect
every USB device
Test installation again, if it works update / patch OS then start
connecting USB devices one by one, reboot and keep doing until you find
what USB device is the culprit

Please don't says to use the mirrors as a fix; the mirror site does open
up...but when you eventually get to the page that has the linkf for the
package you are looking for that link tries to open up Medibuntu's
package site. So you are back to the beginning again
And the site is still downju
Confirmed my prior comment; none of the so-called "mirror" sites
workeventually they all try to connect to Medibuntu's package
siteso that fix is no fix at all

Interesting question to post, what can be done to ensure this same problem
doesn't happen all over again?
Seems to me, relying on one serveror one siteor one person to do

Same problem appearing on UCK running on my newly installed Ubuntu 9.10
