thanks magnus, i will attach the files. maybe worth mentioning is that i
get an image on the external monitor (samsung syncmaster 225 mw with the
svideo cable, however this is very bad res and no way to adjust the
proper resolution.

ext-monitor resolution (however not the ri

well... a bit later...
not really solved for me: once not connected to the external monitor and
just running on my laptop screen x-server would not start and i could
get no graphical screen.
had to modify xorg.conf again in order to get it started.
what would be a xorg.conf that would allow me t

hi there - i do not understand: is there a fix or not?
i still have the same problem : ALL icons (links and files) on the left.
updated gvfs to version 1.4.1. - does not help.
