I booted from the live cd to get these results.
I now get "can't read group descriptor 1" msg.

sudo mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /media/sda1
and i try to "resue" anything that can be saved... :'-(

nope nothing to be saved can be read.
and sda3 cannot be mounted.

i used fsck -y -t ext3 /dev/sda1 i'll be able to tell you about the results
