When I plug in my digital camera (Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T9 - looks like a
standard USB disk) the mouse curser changes to busy for a few seconds
and nothing happens.
If I then click on the new volume on the desktop, the filer bro

Found a solution... in the preferences of the file browser, media tab,
for the Photos option there are 2 entrys "Open F-Spot Photo Manager". If
I change the selection, it works automatically when I plug in the camera
and so does the button.

When I pop in the livecd and boot up, the gnome startup sounds is very
loud on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 9300) - looking at the volume settings
its at 80%. Should the volume really be this loud be default? 50% would

In Ubuntu 8.04 beta, if I go into System/Preferences/Screen Resolution
and change the rotation to Left, my screen goes blank and there is no
way to recover it. This setting is saved to ~/.gnome2/monitors.xml so
will be applied every time I login!

Same here. It does work if I use the binary driver, but I've never had
any problems before with the opensource one.
Seen lots of bugs about X300 causing crashes etc, so I can understand
why its disabled. However it would be nice if it told you the reason why
(rather than turning on effects failed
