different from the value USB_PID_ASUS_U3100 as defined in dvb-usb-ids.h, i
changed the value, recompile, and install. the stick can now be recognized but
i received the following error:

I have a similar problem in Hardy. My changes of the delay and the speed
of repeat keys will only work in the current session and will lose when
restart X server. I think the problem lies in the Keyboard Preferences
tool. Maybe it does not have enough authority to change the X setting

this is what I have just posted on the matter in ubuntu forums. It aint
delicate, but it worked for me. And as mad as it sounds if a silent ogg
was made, renamed desktop-login.ogg and copy pasted into
/usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo then that would be a bizarre workaround.
I changed my login sound
PS Nearly forgot!!!
Those of you who require a silent login can use ubuntu-tweak as it
contains an on/off switch for the login sound in Start Up / Autostart.
Now that's simple.
