If this is the expected behavior, then that signifies a poor design
ideology. To significantly compromise data integrity for the sole sake
of speed is entirely unacceptable for anyone attempting to use such a
machine for anything other than play. It relegates Ubuntu to the realm
of "toy"!

1) I got what seemed like an excuse for a response, nothing useful such
as a work around (such as turning off write caching for NTFS
partitions). Surely you can understand that I was very upset for loosing
days worth of work!

One thing I forgot. The bug I am pointing out, since I guess I didn't
state it properly, is that a move operation deletes the source file
before the write completes. This should not occur, and is a bug.

think your point is correct. Why? Because I was moving 7GB of data.
About 3GB had completed when the crash occurred (according to the
progress bar). All 3 GB of that data was missing after the crash. Surely
the disk couldn't h
Are you calling the data that gets entered into the NTFS tables
metadata? Or are you talking about other data (not sure what other data
it would be)? I admit I don't have an intimate knowledge of file
systems, but I do know the basics of how they work, more than your
average joe.
