The macbook has a button to mute sound. In gutsy up to date x86 the
behaviour is to mute the master track, but I can still here sound
through the speakers when playing music. If it muted the pcm track I
think it would work. Where can I change this behaviour?

I have installed ubuntu on a macbook core 2 duo and it takes ages to boot. I've
read this is related to the fact that the guid partition is deleted and apple's
bios take a long time to realize it's the mbr where the bootloade is (grub).

apple's efi will boot it since it seems to find it before the mbr. And
since the core 2 duo macbook has a bug in grub which sometimes the
keyboard is not recognized, you have to do a full boot in the live cd to

I think a posible solution for this is to create a udev rule that when
an usb device recognized as a mouse runs the synclient TouchpadOff=1
command, and when unplugged does the opposite.
I'm not sure if it's easy to grep the udev info to recognize the mouse.

(control + alt + Fx) and back again to gdm, so I had to log out, kill
