Is this bug still present? I've installed a fresh 8.04.2 amd64 in a
VirtualBox 2.1.2 with three SATA harddrives. When i switch off a drive,
kernel is loadding but at the end the raid arrays are stopped and the
system is unusable.

@Andreas: Yes, all symlinks to other devices are affected.
I've patched glocalfileinfo.c with Takehiko Abe patch¹, rebuilded
libglib2.0-0_2.22.2-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb and
libglib2.0-data_2.22.2-0ubuntu1_all.deb and now it works for me too! All
symlinks are restored correctly.

audacity shoudn't be a problem 'cause it's not running when the computer
starts.
I'll remove all that ~/.asoundrc* stuff and give it a try.

Hmmpf. I don't know what i've changed at last, but for the moment i have
sound - and that including the gdm login window what wasn't the case
before. It's also independent of that ~/.asoundrc* stuff...
