After experiencing display errors with 352 (default at install), I used
additional drivers to test the 340 driver.
After reboot, the screen resolution was maximum 800 x 600. After
reverting back to 352, remained at 800 x 600.
Normal/expected screen resolution is 2560 x 1600
History: This was a standard basic installation of Xubuntu 15.04
upgraded to 15.10. It uses two nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti in SLI driving
a HP LP3065 2560x1600 monitor. The xorg.conf used from working
distribution is attached. The xorg.conf generated by "nvidia-xconf
-sli=Auto" is attached as xorg.c

Upgraded to 12.04 without propietary drivers. Used jockey-common to
activate nvidia propietary drivers. On restart X failed to start.
Checked xorg.conf and found it had not been updated to fit the nvidia
drivers. Copied an archived version and X launched. Checked and found
apport failed when trying to submit this bug using ubuntu-bug.

No message, it just appears in update-manager without the ability to
check it to be upgraded. I think it's supposed to replace ia32-libs in
the new multi-arch scheme but for some unknown reason it didn't happen.
The upgrade to 12.04 has been extremely problematic and at this point
12.04 is unusabl

1. Disabled 2nd monitor in nvidia settings.
2. Replaced nvidia (295.⋯) driver (not the ubuntu propietary driver) with
ubuntu driver.
3. Removed nvidia driver and nvidia settings.

On another restart, there are multiple panels as well as multiple
repeated icons on the "original" panel, see attachment

The login screen worked fine. Before lightdm using gdm, the second
screen worked well. After the upgrade using lightdm, the second screen
did no draw properly.
The useless 12.04 upgrade was deleted and the original 10.10 recovered,
so any logs are gone.

After upgrade to 12.04, this is no longer a problem with network-

icon now works, indicates properly and shows connection information in

I fixed this problem (by stumbling around).
Since I have other, older distributions working with Compiz, I opened
ccsm from one of them and compared them to the 12.04 upgrade ccsm.
Strangely, after enabling Windows decorations, move, and re·size the
problems stated is this question were solved.
