same problem. i have ATI 5700 series video card with 1Gb video ram, and
desktop has 4Gb system ram. im suspending to ram and after the second
or third resume, system is very slow. vmstat shows a lot of swapping,
and cpu wait. logging out and back in fixes problem ( presumably resets
X server ). im
spoke too soon : after several successful suspends, i had the same
issue.

ive got the same problem with lucid and the 10.7 Catalyst ATI drivers.
moving or clicking on the window area draws them properly, but then the
black areas return
