Binary package hint: gnome-panel
1. add to panel - custom application launcher
2. check new launcher
3. open properties add icon from my file not a default
4. menus and all launchers vanish from both of my panels (except notification
area and window list)

This appears to knock out a section or sections of gconf
causing menus and icons to disappear.
This is a brand new clean installation of Ubuntu 7.04.
No upgrades no changes.

I can confirm this report. I had reported a similar problem with applets
disappearing from the panel. Unfortunately I can't remember the bug #.
I think I can shed a little light on this problem. After a clean install
of Ubuntu 7.04 I went for several weeks without the problem.
