The pattern bug seems to be fixed in the last Inkscape dev builds (tried with
21203, Ubuntu, and a slightly older one on Windows XP).
The PDF shows the stripes as expected. I don't know if it's fixed in cairo or
inkscape, but I suggest we consider (at least) the inkscape report as fix
committed.

As explained in my original post, I don't experience this problem with the most
recent Inkscape versions (official and dev.).
It only happened on 9.04 and Inkscape 0.46-5ubuntu4, which can both be
considered deprecated, now that the new LTS is out.

Not surprisingly I have the same kind of issue if I compress a file on Ubuntu
(tar.gz or .zip) and try to open it on Windows, and vice versa (only 7zip
format seems to work well).
Switching to lzma could be a solution, but it is not supported in the current
Python version as a default module and

Just found a workaround (and thus maybe a clue): Inkscape doesn't crash if you
delete the inkscape:perspective node in the defs (vacuum defs or manually in
the xml editor) before using the 3D tool.
Looks like if the 3D tool tries to update the defs

Fix committed in the trunk (revision 9802) and in the 0.48.x branch
(revision 9678). I've also added a fix that removes the temporary folder
when the extension has finished (successfully or not) its job.
I've reproduced the empty file error with the sk1 extension, and thus I
guess it's not directl

Lots of bugs have been fixed recently

Tested again on Ubuntu 10.04.
Last time I tried, the message was so persistent that it took precedence over
all the following messages. But this time, it is still persistent (it doesn't
disappear after a few seconds like File>Save as) until another message shows
up, which is far less annoying t
Correction, unexpected behavior reproduced on Ubuntu 10.04:
1. Export a drawing.
2. Select a shape tool (rectangle, ellipse, 3D...). A new contextual message
shows in the status bar.
3. Move the mouse cursor to the status bar, the export message is back and
stays in the status bar even if I draw
@Fahad - In order to close the report properly, could you please tell us
if you tested both Inkscape versions on the same operating system, and
confirm it crashes with the official (0.48.3.1) package but not with the
trunk version? Thanks.
