Having both usplash and xsplash, usplash kicks in for most of the boot time
than xsplash does on my test-bed slow (minimal install) system - P3 500mhz,
192mb PC100 RAM.. That is, usplash for about 16 seconds, no *splash for about a
7-8 second gap, then xsplash for 4-5 seconds :(

It's just that clearplayer skin is part of "mplayer-skins" is not installed
when one installs mplayer, because it is not listed as dependency, while

files (to the correct/appropriate versions) in the linux-firmware package in
Karmic?
Is there someone upstream responsible of sorting those files instead? Has it

This is really lousy of udev developers, knowing such warnings exist, which
could be trivially fixed before the release, and yet they release it as it
is... At least if they had the courtesy to think that others may well be
working on usplash, xsplash, and other *splash stuff, testing things out
i can confirm the exact opposite of this behavior in karmic as well
1. installed flashplayer-installer (similar to flashplayer-nonfree, but makes
download from adobe.com instead)
2. adobe flash 10 works in firefox/swiftweasel
3. installed swfdec-mozilla
Then, swfdec shows in plugins in both fire
Please note that I added "flashplugin-installer" package to the list of
affected packages, since in karmic, `apt-cache show flashplugin-nonfree`
lists it as the following in description: "This package is a
transitional package that can safely be removed after you installed
flashplugin-installer", b

On a side note about exacerbation of the issue when DefaultDepth is set to 24:
Not only does gradient color banding occur for `lxdm` (which was okay in 16bit
depth), as `feh` and `gimp` (which were also okay in 16bit depth) exhibit the
banding issue as well. So, I believe that confirms that it is
`nitrogen` exhibits the same gradient color banding issue in 16 bit
depth.
