I am running compiz in ubuntu 10.10 and it fails to kill metacity here,
too. Every time I boot my system, I have to kill metacity (as root) and

I experimented with the module synaptic editing its code hoping to fix
it myself. It seemed to me that the incorrect behaviour was already
present in codes passed on to synaptics_parse_hw_state(...). BTW, the
touchpad works fine under Windows which eliminates the explanation that
touchpad firmware

I don't think this duplicates #1032823. Had the same problem while
upgrading from 14.04 to 15.04 (which is apparently a direct upgrade path
now, rather than the update manager doing 14.04 to 14.10 first). Ha
I can confirm that this is still an issue.
I'm using the latest version of Linux Mint, 17, (running the Ubuntu based
version, of course).

log in in the text terminal by typing your username and password when
prompted, run "pkill gnome-do", press ctrl+f7

I have the same problem. For me it started after I upgraded to Xubuntu
14.10 (from 13.10). However, it only happens when I create a new user
that has a fresh gnome-do configuration. For my existing user gnome-do
still works fine.
I tried removing and purgin the gnome-do-plugins package but that di
I tried copying over the entire ~/.local/share/gnome-do folder from my
existing account where gnome-do works fine to a new account, but that
does not fix the problem, so the problem is not (only) a config setting
in gnome-do.

Upgraded my Asus EeePC to 14.10 (from 13.10) and I now also have this
problem. Workaround of binding xrandr --auto to a hotkey works, but
automating that according to comment 205 does not for me. I also tried
automating it by creating an event handler in /etc/acpi/events/ but that
also failed.
