I also have this problem. To reproduce I used Hardy and Gutsy. I am
using GeForce 9600 GT with the proprietary driver, Compiz is on.
Do someone already have a workaround? Did someone report this to Gnome?

I've got the same problem. I noticed Ubuntu did more packeging failures

Hello together,
here is the same problem with a HP Mini 2133. Workaround setting
permissions for use wireless network did not help. I installed
2.6.38-02063805-generic from Kernel-PPA and now it seems to work
properly.
