Actually, '..' is the parent directory. If you cd to a symlink (like in
my example above, 'cd test') you are put into a real directory, that
happened to be symlinked. The '..' entry in this direcftory points to

different subnets I am connected to , one wired at 192.168.2.0/24, eth0,

able to reproduce it anymore, so I took the liberty of closing INVALID.
For the record, here's how I used to get it: I always open VMWare Server
(1.0.5) -- and now VBox -- on a different workspace. So usually I am

further research shows bug 141067 to directly address this issue, so I
am marking this bug as a duplicate. But, gnome spirit or not, it still
boggles my mind why low-numbered groups (and users) will not be sho
this bug looks like the same as bug 141067, only applied to users. I
suggest setting it as a duplicate of 141067 (more explicit on the causes
of this behaviour).

I am considering marking this bug as a duplicate of bug 124993. The
solution for this mess is to set the (rather undocumented) gconf key
/apps/gnome-system-tools/users/showall, and magically all users and all
groups appear.
Comments, anyone, before I do so?
