the laptop which has this bug, was upgraded from dapper to edgy to feisty since
i found
"converted during upgrade to edgy" in fstab...but nothing else
suspicious (compared to the desktop machines fstab)

Hi there, it is me again...
i just did an upgrade(edgy to feisty) to another desktop machine,
this machine was upgraded from dapper to edgy before...
the above bugs behavior, can be seen on this machine too.
whatever info one may need to resolve this issue, i am looking forward

I have the same issue. the noise is bearly noticeable at low volume, at
higher volumes there is a horrible high frequency "hiss" added ... i
tried to hassel with /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf options + asla
force-reload as found in the ubuntu wiki to no avail. back to the
original distro alsa-base
looking after my bug:
well, it was'nt one ... use alsamixer to turn down 'frontmic playback' and
store these settings with 'sudo alsactl store'
if at all it is a usability bug in gnomes sound thingies inability to
control/mute playback of inputs
sound plays nice now as does the precise pangolin..
+1 affected person
