Shouldn't the image be formatted to the smallest screen height/width
ratio you expect, then stretched to 100% of the screen width and the
height scaled the same and cropped?
To cover 4:3, 16:10 and 16:9 screens, you'd format the image 4:3 and set
width = "100%" height="scale".

I'm getting something very similar. When editing text - mainly (perhaps always)
when selecting text the keyboard freezes for a short time. Resizing/moving the
window seems to recover this, but it recovers by itself after about 10 seconds.
This is with Libre Office text, geany and kate editors.

This is a simple install on an SSD, with EFI system partition as sda2
and Btrfs root partition as sda8. When I ran lsblk I noted that sda8 was
mounted as /target/home, although I had specifically told the installer
to mount it at /. The installer crashed with:

I had the nearly the same problem with the same monitor. It would start
in 1280X960 mode. I could switch it to 1360x768 running compiz on the
Nvidia 173 driver but I never did get it to start that way.
I came to the same solution...I switched monitors with another computer
and it runs great at
