of the apps, than it's a problem with the integrated drivers of webcam
(gspca) in the kernel.

I solved it the following way:
1.- open as root /etc/X11/xorg.conf
2.- Add at the begining of the file following lines:

Once again, you must check if you have 32-bits or 64-bits. There are two
different versions.
If you have a 64-bit System, you need to create libv4l for 64-bits and
for 32-bits to get all webcam apps working.
If you use skype, even having 64-bit you need to use 32-bit libs. You
must compile libv4l

I only can recommend updating the complete Linux-Kernel, because the
driver have been integrated. Compile your own version downloading of
www.kernels.org
Maybe the most recent Kernel
This problem still must be solved. If anyone want the full support of
Hardware, but also Intrepid, I would recommend installing the Kernel
2.6.24 and using the packages of Intrepid. You won't notice the
difference, and gspca can be compiled and works.
This would be another temporary solution.

In my case, the problem still remains. All Samba-Shares even from other
Linux-Computers can be viewed, but all the Shares of Windows-PCs are not
seen. In Konqueror, both can be viewed.
What I don't understand, that it requests the password after entering
into the share, not before browsing to PC.
Skype works, but like in other Webcam only green bars are seen.
Only Cheese is working with my webcam.
Camorama, ekiga and skype won't budge!

I think it has to do something with xorg.conf. In the new version of
Xorg, the file isn't read anymore. Something was told about it in the
new version.
Now, Hardy had this problem too, when you modified xorg.conf for
joystick-input. By default the joystick is enabled, but for using it as
input-dev
tested Ubuntu 8.10 beta. Same Kernel, same Problem.

I tried to compile it on kernel 2.6.26 patched with 2.6.27.rc9 from
kernel.org and the error message changes, but it still doesn't work. I
will upload the log-file next time. It was something about CC_EXTRAS.

friends for browsing windows shares. I sometimes use konqueror, that

Samba 4 is really great. Once installing and compiling by hand under
Ubuntu it really rocks. I'm pretty sure there is a lot of mess with the
packages patches and old scripts. We should find a way to

Please for god sake, revert back to KDevelop 4.3.1!
4.3.90, I think is on of the betas of 4.4.0. For testing purposes it's
okay, but in a final distro Release this shouldn't be here!
That version crashed a lot of times in my system for random reasons,
sometimes changing a tab or killing a running
After those problems I downloaded version 4.3.1 compiled and installed
it. This one runs stable. Try it out!

who use gnome-shell 3.8 and raring. I think only LightDM is affected.
