I have tried searching for another bug, but i have a problem when trying to
copy a file across a network to my Ubuntu Gutsy machine.
The files im accessing are around 600MB, it gets about 40% complete and then
the system freezes.

hold on, i spoke too soon.
Still having the same trouble, copying files over samba, freezes all the time
evenwhen i try and copy to the ubuntu machne it freezes

I successfully follow Alberto Milone's instructions above and got my 8800 GTS
running.
However, now when i try and run "desktop effects", i get the following error:
"the composite extension is not available"
Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Oh and update manager wants me to update nvidia-glx-new, have to
deselect.

unfortunately i cant find if i can delete opmments here
ive updated the xorg.conf to enable composite and all is well
i still am getting the update manager pestering me, but ill live with
that until the package is updated

I also upgrade from feisty to gutsy and no longer have my onboard sound device
working properly.
What is the best output for me to get and post here to help diagnose?

i upgraded to nvidia-glx-new-1.0.9755+2.6.20.5-16.28 and failed once again.
Had to revert back to Alberto Milone's
nvidia-glx-new_1.0.9755+2.6.20.5-15.20_i386.deb
