Hello, it isn't a problem anymore. I don't recall this bug...but then again
it appears that it maybe back in 2007 when I first tried to upgrade from
Feisty to Gutsy. My system eventually crashed on the Linux side and I
continued then to use the dual boot Grub to load XP instead, until recently

Hmm, I thought Apport posted all info relevant to this crash. I guess it
didn't.
Anyway, I re-crashed firefox and used Apport to post all info to a new bug:

Hi,
I had the same problem in Gutsy...mouse (MS Wireless Laser Mouse 5000)
stopped working while keyboard and the rest kept responding. Sometimes
major lockups and I had to reboot the hard way.
But I tried the "noapic irqpoll" option after updating my bios (MSI K8N
Neo-2 54-G) and we're off to lo
It seems that I've been a little bit premature: this morning I had
another mouse-lockup while the keyboard kept responding. After a reboot
the mouse was enabled again, but for how long?
Anyway, some data:
AMD64 3500+ on a MSI K8N Neo-2 54-G board,
