please can you post the kernel version of feisty-installcd you used. You
need to start the desktop with this cd, runt terminal and type "uname
-a".
If you say your feisty livecd working, it can be new ubuntu-kernel problem.
you can try to fix your system using livecd.

this is not solution. this workaround may help you to start the system.

will create file my_dmesg. This file you can post here. Not .odt file it
is not good, but it's working ;)

1. It is upstream bug. And any options for workaround are begin with
version 2.6.21
2. Feisty will use _ONLY_ version 2.6.20. Only gutsy (nex ubuntu) will

I you use gnome-sound-record and on question "save recording befor
closing" you press cancel it will just close the programm. Expected: It
should go back to the programm and ask again if needet.

I would grep the source of your software for any word like sound or
alsa.
Sadenly i can't help you with this bug, currently i in ZA and use

Hmm... josm (javaopenstreetmap) accept only wav format and it is
working. this mean
I copied this part from cheese, so it is the same format.
It will be better to minimize users interaction with fs, like cheese or tomboy
do,

I use this program to record lectures in my university. So i have my format to
safe files:
lecture_name-date-some_tags.ogg
If i use fs to manage it - files are gruped by lecture name and sorted by date
and there is some info too.
It will be great if i can use my calender to have lecture names an
