The update ( as noted here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/+bug/215833 ) fixed the boot-problem, but created a new one! The Hardware Drivers /Jockey does not work anymore. I am not able to set correct resolution on my screen, nor set the nvidia driver. -- 2.

I can confirm that # 27 partially ( literally ) solved things for me. At least every second time I open the lid... the resolution of my external screen is wrong half of the time together with the laptop lid being on even when closed. On a Dell E6400 -- Screen locks up black on laptop lid close.
